Reflection 5  Intersectionality and Interconnectedness

In this last presentation, it was recommended to design students’ assignments using their intersectionality and values, just as the purpose and relevance.  I will be modifying some assignments that allow the students to explore their interest and address some community problems that they identified–to address purpose and relevance. Purpose and relevance, will be an under current throughout my curriculum where I will frequently be asking my students for connecting and applying what we see in class.

Other relevant aspects of interconnectedness, this is also very relevant to promote in the classroom.  I provide many tools to my students to help them communicate positively and to learn a non-judgmental stand.  I model respect and empathy.  I will be adding my diversity statement and changing the language in my syllabus.
