Reflection 2

Student motivation cannot be achieved and/or maintained with only positive reinforcement. I would focus on increasing student’s self-efficacy using positive affirmations to build confidence in an attempt to build autonomy. Concrete strategies I would use would include: (a) Encourage students to set goals and practice self-reflection; (b) Implement revise and resubmit promote mastery; (c) Making blackboard resources more comprehensive and easily accessible; (d) Giving students choice: e.g., to pick project topic; (e) For online learning: encourage students to proceed on their own pace; (f) Encourage students to make real world connections for topics learnt; (g) Invite student alumni to talk about their experiences/formal guest speakers to motivate students; (h) Ask students about what they want to get out of course/specific project to define purpose.
